Aujourd\u2019hui, elle vit et  travaille en Basse-Normandie. L\u2019Iguifou signifie la faim en kinyarwanda,  sa langue natale. C\u2019est aussi le titre qu\u2019elle donne \u00e0     l\u2019une des cinq nouvelles qui composent ce mince recueil.<\/p>\n<p>Scholastique Mukasonga met en sc\u00e8ne, entre autres, tant\u00f4t (dans  l\u2019Iguifou) la petite fille affam\u00e9e d\u2019une famille de d\u00e9plac\u00e9s tutsis de  Nyamata qui fr\u00f4le la mort, tant\u00f4t (dans la Gloire de la     vache) un jeune berger, aux temps de l\u2019abondance quand les marais ne  servaient qu\u2019\u00e0 faire pa\u00eetre les vaches au lieu de servir de refuge aux  victimes du g\u00e9nocide. La vache en ces temps-l\u00e0 faisait     l\u2019objet de soins jaloux, presque religieux\u2009\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0\u202fDans l\u2019avant-cour,  un peu \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart, \u00e9crit Scholastique Mukasonga, on allumait un grand feu  d\u2019herbes mouill\u00e9es\u2026 C\u2019\u00e9tait le moment de     d\u00e9barrasser les vaches des tiques et des puces, autour des oreilles,  autour des yeux, de soulever la queue pour traquer tous les parasites,  d\u2019inspecter les sabots pour s\u2019assurer que ne s\u2019y     logeait aucun caillou, qu\u2019aucune \u00e9pine ne s\u2019y \u00e9tait enfonc\u00e9e.\u202f\u00a0\u00bb On  suit les b\u00eates \u00e0 cornes \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0\u202fla d\u00e9marche de danseuse, aux gros yeux  r\u00eaveurs\u202f\u00a0\u00bb, de la traite du matin \u00e0 celle du     soir.<\/p>\n<p>Un autre court r\u00e9cit, le Malheur d\u2019\u00eatre belle, a trait \u00e0 une jeune  Tutsi qui est trop belle en ces temps d\u2019infamie. Son destin, tragique,  nous est restitu\u00e9 par le menu. Avec le Deuil, qui se     situe dans l\u2019apr\u00e8s-g\u00e9nocide, la preuve est faite que le deuil,  justement, en est impossible. Ainsi chaque texte apporte toujours, avec  le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent des dissonances voulues. La nouvelle, forme     br\u00e8ve par excellence, impensable sans l\u2019art de la chute, se pr\u00eate \u00e0  ravir \u00e0 cet univers capt\u00e9 par l\u2019intelligence sensible de l\u2019artiste qui  ausculte la m\u00e9moire de son pays. Peut-il en \u00eatre     autrement, apr\u00e8s une telle catastrophe dans l\u2019ordre de l\u2019humain\u2009\u00a0?  Parlant du Rwanda, Scholastique Mukasonga tourne autour de l\u2019indicible  d\u2019une plume presque sereine, tremp\u00e9e dans la po\u00e9sie     en toute simplicit\u00e9 et parfois non d\u00e9nu\u00e9e d\u2019humour.<\/p>\n<p>La romanci\u00e8re n\u2019h\u00e9site pas \u00e0 semer sa prose de termes venus du  kinyarwanda afin, sans doute, de r\u00e9chauffer sa langue originelle, d\u2019en  laisser trace \u00e9crite dans le texte fran\u00e7ais pour lui     permettre par endroits de prendre ses aises librement. Ces nouvelles  courent sur plusieurs \u00e9poques dans le souci manifeste d\u2019accumuler  choses vues et t\u00e9moignages mis en bouquet dans l\u2019\u00e9criture     par quelqu\u2019un qui semble poss\u00e9der des antennes pour capter le  moindre fr\u00e9missement du monde. Scholastique Mukasonga a d\u00e9j\u00e0 publi\u00e9 chez  le m\u00eame \u00e9diteur, dans la m\u00eame collection Inyenzi ou les     cafards et la Femme aux pieds nus.
