Son incantation magique, se souvient l\u2019\u00e9diteur, <em>\u00ab\u00a0plongeait peu \u00e0 peu l\u2019auditoire dans une absolue b\u00e9atitude, m\u00eal\u00e9e d\u2019un grain d\u2019hyst\u00e9rie, dont on avait, longtemps apr\u00e8s son concert, peine et regret \u00e0 se d\u00e9faire\u00a0\u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dans son cahier, Kitami convoque cette \u00e9poque o\u00f9 elle n\u2019\u00e9tait que Prisca, jeune Rwandaise au vif d\u00e9sir d\u2019apprendre, regard\u00e9e avec d\u00e9fiance par son entourage qui la soup\u00e7onne d\u2019\u00eatre une sorci\u00e8re, peut-\u00eatre l\u2019h\u00e9riti\u00e8re de Nyabingui, vieille femme capable de provoquer la maladie, mais aussi de soigner les \u00e9pouses st\u00e9riles.<\/p>\n<p>Tutsie, Prisca est menac\u00e9e quand monte la haine qui conduira au massacre des siens. Trois tambourinaires \u00e9trangers l\u2019aident \u00e0 devenir Kitami, la \u00ab\u00a0servante\u00a0\u00bb de Ruguina, son tambour qui \u2013\u00a0meurtre, accident ou suicide\u2009?\u00a0\u2013 la tuera.<\/p>\n<p>La langue belle et alti\u00e8re de Scholastique Mukasonga sied \u00e0 merveille \u00e0 cette fresque commenc\u00e9e dans un village rwandais et achev\u00e9e tragiquement sur une \u00eele des Antilles. Le r\u00e9cit balaie une existence et les sortil\u00e8ges d\u2019un pays qui s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 perp\u00e9trer un g\u00e9nocide.<\/p>\n<p>Le carnet \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re personne appara\u00eet comme la partie la plus fascinante et la plus touchante de cette fable.
