Pittsburgh International Literary Festival 2021
Rwandan author Scholastique Mukasonga and world literature professor Jeanne-Marie Jackson will talk about literature and translation at the Pittsburgh International Literary Festival. The event is part of a 10-day exploration of books and ideas about literature and translation exploring “themes of displacement, identity and migration in literature.”
The English translation of Scholastique Mukasonga’s short story collection Igifu was published last year by Achipelago Books to critical acclaim. The book, which was featured our 50 Notable African Books of the Year and on our Eat the Book Series, draws from her childhood experiences in Rwanda.
Jeanne-Marie Jackson teaches and researches on world literature at Johns Hopkins University. Her latest book titled The African Novel of Ideas was published last year by Princeton University Press.
Catch both of them in conversation May 16 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Eastern Time (8pm WAT). The event, which will be streamed on Crowdcast, is free.
